How to Store Your Precious Jewellery
Are you someone who just stores all jewellery in bags given by your jeweller? A little care will keep your precious jewellery collection shining, organized and lasting through generations.
Things to remember before you store your jewellery
Always clean your jewellery with a soft cotton cloth (like the ones we use for cleaning our specs), to remove dust and sweat, before storing it.
Choose a place which is safe, dry, clean (free from dust), not exposed to extreme heat and above all accessible to you (but not accessible to kids).
Keep silver jewellery and jewellery made in gold (whether it is plain gold jewellery or gold jewellery studded with diamond and gemstones) separately.
Store all the jewellery pieces separately to avoid scratches on them. Keeping each of them in small transparent zip-lock plastic bags is a good idea.
Storing pearl Jewellery, coloured gemstone jewellery and gemstone strings
They should always be wrapped in a soft cotton cloth before storage. Never store pearl jewellery in plastic bags. The best idea is to wrap the jewellery in cotton handkerchiefs and then keep it in a pouch or bag.

If you have jewellery boxes with hanging options then hang your chains to save them from entangling. Alternatively, the chains especially the delicate ones can be stored inside zip lock plastic bags and keep the clasp of the chain hanging outside the bag before closing and sealing the bag.

Store them separately in paper packets and keep the packets in zip-lock plastic bags.

Silver jewellery tarnishes easily, so keep them in a dry place and away from household chemicals. Store them in cotton pouches or wrap them in soft cotton cloth.
